Hub researchers are developing new and improved ways of sharing quantum entanglement over long distances, across quantum networks that are adaptable and flexible. They are designing modular network architectures and building hardware to efficiently route quantum information, while also aiming to demonstrate advanced quantum networking protocols leveraging high-dimensional quantum states and multi-party entanglement. In practical terms, this means upgrading the UK Quantum Network (UKQN) with entanglement-based links reducing reliance on trusted nodes and aiming to develop a national-scale entanglement network, including through links to NPL.
