Hub Teams are developing critical components for use in quantum networks within the IQN Hub and also to meet the wider needs of the UK quantum supply chain. They are working on:

  • single-photon and entangled-photon sources at the University of Sheffield;
  • single-photon detectors in a collaboration between the University of Glasgow and Heriot-Watt University;
  • low-loss network switches at the University of Cambridge.

All of these components are being optimized for the telecom C-band centred at λ = 1550nm to maximise compatibility within existing low-loss fibre-optic networks.
